What is amorphous alloy

Let's start with amorphous materials. In daily life, people generally contact two kinds of materials: one is crystalline materials and the other is amorphous materials. The so-called crystalline material means that the arrangement of atoms in the material follows a certain law. On the contrary, if the internal atomic arrangement is in an irregular state, it is an amorphous material. General metals have orderly internal atomic arrangement and belong to crystalline materials. Scientists have found that after the metal melts, the internal atoms are active. Once the metal begins to cool, the atoms will slowly and orderly arrange according to a certain crystal law with the decrease of temperature to form crystals. If the cooling process is very fast, the atoms are solidified before they can rearrange, resulting in amorphous alloys. The preparation of amorphous alloys is a rapid solidification process. The molten high-temperature molten steel is sprayed onto the high-speed rotating cooling roller. The molten steel cools rapidly at the rate of millions of degrees per second. In only one thousandth of a second, the molten steel at 1300 ℃ is reduced to below 200 ℃ to form amorphous strip.

Compared with crystalline alloys, amorphous alloys have changed significantly in physical, chemical and mechanical properties. Taking the amorphous alloy dominated by iron as an example, it has the characteristics of high saturated magnetic induction and low loss. Because of such characteristics, amorphous alloy materials have broad application space in many fields such as electronics, aviation, aerospace, machinery, microelectronics and so on. For example, in the aerospace field, it can reduce the weight of power supply and equipment and increase the payload. For civil power and electronic equipment, it can greatly reduce the volume of power supply, improve efficiency and enhance anti-interference ability. Amorphous alloys have magical effects and have broad market prospects.
